Troop 998 B Activities
Camping
Our Troop is big on camping! Whether it is a whole Troop campout or small Patrol campout, Scouts schedule trips regularly and year round. Trips vary from drive-up sites to hike-in and can be one night or several. While camping, Scouts may go hiking, enjoy fireside meals, work on merit badge completion, or complete various fun challenges!
Hiking
Hiking trips along regional trails is a favorite activity for our Troop. Hiking is a great way to enjoy the outdoors and Scouts can complete several badge requirements like Orienteering, Trailside Cooking, and First Aid! Scouts will sometimes organize practice backpack hikes to better prepare for longer backpack camping trips.
Archery
Scouts have the opportunity to learn archery – including safety protocols, strategies, and techniques to become accurate archers.
Volunteer Activities
Throughout the year, Scouts have several opportunities to help their community with volunteering. Whether it is spreading mulch, building picnic tables, gardening, collecting donations for the needy, or helping the local animal shelter, our Scouts are committed to giving back.
High Adventure and Seabase
For our older Scouts, High Adventure and Seabase are great opportunities!
A high-adventure experience includes several days of trekking in wilderness and other rugged, remote locations. The Boy Scouts of America operates four national high-adventure facilities and numerous local high adventure bases that provide outdoor adventure opportunities for older Scouts including backpacking, hiking, kayaking, canoeing, mountaineering, rock climbing, mountain biking, or orienteering.
Sea Base is a National Scouting program that offers aquatics programs. Whether your interests lie in sailing, scuba diving, rustic camping on an undeveloped barrier island, fishing or a combination of all, Seabase offers something for everyone.
